Battle royale game Indus, developed in India, unveils its plot and technical elements. This year, Indus is expected to debut on Windows PCs, consoles, and mobile devices.
SuperGaming, a game developer located in Pune, has provided some fresh details regarding their next battle royale game, Indus. The game is expected to be on sale this year at some point and will be playable on Windows PCs, consoles, and mobile devices.
The game's splash screen, which the firm had previously shown, hinted at a futuristic concept with Indian-inspired architecture. In a press statement, CEO Roby John stated, "We intend to draw on our extensive backstory to build a world that's different but approachable, replete with guns and gameplay features you'd expect - with a few surprises we plan on unveiling down the line."
Indus, the highly-anticipated battle royale game, immerses players in a thrilling narrative where they take on the role of a Mythwalker - a mercenary hired by the powerful intergalactic criminal organization COVEN. The mission is to explore the advanced planet Indus, where a valuable natural resource called Cosmium has been discovered. This rare resource has the potential to change the fate of many lives, making it a coveted prize in the galaxy. Developed by Supergaming Pvt Ltd the game promises to be an exciting journey filled with action, adventure and danger as players battle it out to claim the Cosmium for themselves.
The basic idea is very similar to Dune (the novel and the movie), where a powerful organisation, in this case the COVEN, is interested in mining and harvesting a scarce natural resource for their own purposes.
However, the multiplayer battle royale portion takes place on Virlok, one of the island areas that is always shifting. As with the majority of shooters on the market, players may anticipate using snipers, hand cannons, and assault guns to survive among the other survivors. On their official Discord server, the firm had had also posted concept drawings for Ashvini, the double-barrel, burst-fire sniper.
Indus will have a similar revenue model to other live service games, where you can buy cosmetics and other stuff from the in-app store, and it will be free to play when it launches. Since the team is still in the early stages of development, progression mechanics like battle passes and the overall levelling system have not yet been decided.
In addition to its gripping narrative and diverse arsenal of weapons, Indus sets itself apart with its use of the Indus Engine, an internal "sandbox shooter tech stack," that is built on top of Unity, a widely-used game engine. The developers at Supergaming Pvt Ltd chose Unity as the foundation engine due to its comprehensive feature set, robust toolchain and relatively smaller runtime footprint compared to other commercially available game engines. This allows for faster and easier targeting of mobile devices, making Indus accessible to a wider audience of players.
At this time, SuperGaming has not fixed the minimal specifications for any of the systems to play Indus even though they guarantee flawless operation on the majority of current gadgets.
